Before you can apply for admission at a post-secondary institution,
you must complete the My Profile section. This information is collected
for the purpose of determining eligibility for admission and/or the administration
of academic programs and student services. Certain personal information
may be made available to federal and provincial government departments
and agencies under appropriate legislative authority.
You will be asked for information in the following sections:
Information you provided while creating your SIAMS user account
will already be populated in the Personal Information
section. If you would like to change this information you must click Manage
SIAMS Account or one of the links
to edit.
You will also be asked for the following information in this
section:
If
you selected Canada, enter your postal code and click the button Fill Address
If we found your address,
you will then need to enter your house or building Number. For example,
if your address is 1234 - 12 St, you will need to enter 1234
If we found multiple addresses
for your postal code, simply select the address that matches your own.
You will then be asked for more information about your address such as
house number, rural route number, or lock box number
If we could not find your
address or if the address information we found does not match your address,
you may check the box "If displayed
address is incorrect, select this check box." Checking this
box will allow you to manually enter your address information
You will also need to enter
a suite or room number if you have one
If
you selected a country other than Canada, you will be asked to enter your
complete address with Zip code or postal code.
Email
Address: Your email address is collected so you can be contacted
about information regarding your SIAMS Account, ApplyAlberta notifications,
and/or your applications to post-secondary institutions. Your email address
was collected during the SIAMS Account creation process. To change your
email address, click on the "here"
link next to your email address or the Manage
SIAMS Account link on the left hand side menu.
Phone
Numbers: Each phone number has 3 parts
Country code (up to 3 digits),
Area/region code (up to 5 digits)
Local or main number (up to 11 digits).
An
example of an Edmonton, Alberta, Canada phone number is 1-780-410-0000
1-(Country
Code) 780 (Area Code) 410-0000 (Main Number)
Primary Phone: You must enter at least
one personal phone number that reaches you directly
Other Phone: May be a cell phone number
or the phone number of a parent
Work Phone: You may choose to enter
a work phone number
Fax Number: You may enter a fax number
so that institutions can fax you information
If your country of citizenship is Canada:
Select Canada
Aboriginal Ancestry: this information is collected to
help develop policies, programs, and services to improve Aboriginal learner
success within the Province of Alberta. For this reason we ask you to
declare if you are of Aboriginal Ancestry.
If your country of citizenship is not
Canada:
Select your country of citizenship
Select your immigration status
from the following choices:
Permanent Resident: Permanent Residents
of Canada have certain rights and privileges even though they remain citizens
of their home country. If you are waiting to receive Permanent Residency,
choose Study Permit for now.
Study Permit: A Study Permit is a document
issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada that allows a citizen of
a foreign country to study in Canada.
Work Permit: For details about working
in Canada as an international student, please refer to http://www.cic.gc.ca
Other: If none of the Immigration options
apply to you, select other
Note: If you are not a Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada, you
will need to obtain a Study Permit to study in Canada. Refer to Citizenship
and Immigration Canada at http://www.cic.gc.ca for more information
- Entry Date Into Canada: If you are
a Permanent Resident you
may use the date on the back of your Permanent Resident Card or the date
on line 45 of your Confirmation of Permanent Residence Form
planning to apply for
a Study Permit or have already applied but are not yet in Canada you may
enter the date you plan to enter Canada
If you selected Study
or Work Permit, you must also enter your Study
or Work Permit Number if one has been given to you and the Expiry Date for that permit. If you
do not yet have a Study Permit Number, you may leave this field blank.
If you are a Citizen of the United States you will also
be asked to indicate your Aboriginal Ancestry. This information is collected
to help develop policies, programs, and services to improve Aboriginal
learner success within the Province of Alberta. For this reason we ask
you to declare if you are of Aboriginal Ancestry.
High Schools Attended:
You must enter all of the High Schools you have attended or are currently
attending. You can add additional High Schools by clicking on the Add School button.
Select/Enter the Country, Province/State, and City in
which your High School is located.
Enter any part of the name of your High School and click
the Find button. For example,
if you type smith and click Find, you will see all schools with
the word smith somewhere in their
name. If your High School does not appear you can:
- reduce your search - for example,
instead of St. Joseph
try Joseph
- Clear the box and click Find again without entering any text.
This will display all possible results for you to choose from
Select your High School once you have found it and click
the Add School button. If you
could not find your High School, you can check the checkbox ”The
School isn’t listed.” This will allow you to type the
complete name of your school and click the Add
School button.
After adding a High School, for that school you will be asked to:
Select all credentials you
received
- Enter your Student Number if known
- Enter the Month and year you began your
studies
Enter the month and year you
completed your studies. If you have
not completed your studies and are currently attending it is important
that you enter the date when your attendance will be complete, not today’s
date.

or No to the question Do you want to enter your High School courses and
Marks?

Yes if:
you are currently taking
High School courses
you are planning to complete
additional High School courses prior to attending a post-secondary institution
you are a non-Alberta student
and are not taking or planning to take high school courses prior to attending
a post-secondary institution

To enter courses and marks:
Click the Add Course
button
Select the High School you wish to enter courses for.
If you need to enter another High School, select
it from the drop down list.
Enter any part of the name of your course and click
the Find button. For example,
if you type math and click Find, you will see all courses with
the word math somewhere in their
name. If your course does not appear you can:
reduce your search - for
example, instead of Social Studies
try Social
Clear the box and click Find again without entering any text.
Select your course and click the Add
Course button. If you could not find your course, you can check
the checkbox ”The course isn’t
listed.” This will allow you to type the complete name of
your course and click the Add Course
button.
After adding a course, you will also need to select
a course status for that course:
Completed:
You have completed the course and received a final grade
In
Progress: You are currently in the course
Planning
to Take: You plan to take the course before attending a post-secondary
institution
Enter a mark/grade for that course if available. You
may enter a number such as a percentage out of 100 or a letter grade.
Completed:
An actual mark/grade as it will appear on your transcript
In
Progress: You may enter an anticipated final grade based on midterm
results
Planning
to Take: You may enter an anticipated final grade based on final
grades from the previous level
Enter actual or planned credit for that course
Enter actual or planned completion date for that course
You may click the
Add Course button to enter additional courses. You may also Edit or Delete
courses already entered
Select the school where you have
OR will have obtained the highest standing prior to attending a post-secondary
institution.
If you have listed more than one high school, you must select the school
in which you received or will receive the highest level. This is usually
the last school you attended or are currently attending.
You will be asked to indicate the highest level achieved at the high
school that you selected. Depending on your high school you will see a
drop down box with different grade levels OR an option to enter the grade
level you achieved with text.
You must enter all
of the post-secondary institutions you have attended or are currently
attending.
Answer Yes to the question Have
you attended or are you currently attending a post secondary institution?
if:
You can add a post-secondary institution
by clicking on the Add Post-Secondary
School button.
Select/Enter
the Country and Province/State in which your institution is located.
Enter
any part of the name of your Post-Secondary institution and click the
Find button. For example, if
you type smith and click Find, you will see all institutions
with the word smith somewhere
in their name. If your institution does not appear you can:
check
that you have spelled the word correctly
reduce
your search &endash; for example, instead of
St. Joseph try Joseph
clear
the box and click Find again
without entering any text. This will display all possible results for
you to choose from
Select
your institution once you have found it and click the Add
School button. If you could not find your institution, you can
check the checkbox ”The School
isn’t listed.” This will allow you to type the complete
name of your institution and click the Add
School button.
After adding a Post-Secondary Institution,
for that institution you will be asked to:
Student Number: Enter your Student Number
if known. This number will be used to search and match your academic records
either at the institution you are applying to or at the institutions you
list in you academic history.
Start Date: Enter the Month and year
you began your studies
End Date: Enter the month and year you
completed your studies. If you have
not completed your studies and are currently attending it is important
that you enter the date when your attendance will be complete, not today’s
date.
Academic Credential: If you have or
will be receiving a credential from this institution prior to attendance
at a post-secondary institution please indication the type. If you are
pursuing more than one credential from the same institution, enter the
institution more than once and complete this section for each credential
you are pursuing or have obtained.
Academic Credential Title: Enter the
title of the credential you are pursuing or have obtained, for example,
Bachelor of Science or Diploma in Drafting.
Date Credential Issued: Enter the date
you received or will receive your credential. Usually this date can be
found on the credential issued by the institution.

Status: This information will not be used to make decisions about

institutions to determine if you need to meet additional English Language
proficiency requirements prior to admission.

living in Canada, select Canada. If you are a Canadian who has taken permanent
